Alien: Romulus Boosts Fan Enthusiasm With Terrifying Trailer! [VIDEO]

MOVIE NEWS – The latest instalment in the Alien franchise, Romulus, has released a teaser trailer, and we have to say, it looks incredibly good.

After being rumoured for some time, Fede Alvarez’s upcoming movie in the Alien franchise has released the first trailer and some incredible images. Alien: Romulus stars Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla), David Jonsson (Agatha Christie’s Murder is Easy), Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Isabela Merced (The Last of Us) and Spike Fearn (Aftersun). The film takes the franchise back to its roots: pure horror. The synopsis is as follows:

“While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.”

The next instalment in the Alien franchise takes place between the original and its sequel, Aliens. It will be released in theatres on August 16, 2024. Star David Jonsson said that Alien: Romulus will be very, very different:

“I mean, I’m not too sure what I can say just yet, but I know that… I know that it’s very, very, very different. I think Alien was slightly before my generation, in terms of its depth and its impact at the time, but you know, we have such an incredible spin on it. And we had Fede Álvarez as our director, Ridley Scott producing it. It was incredible to work with those people, and opposite Cailee Spaeny, who is just a brilliant actress. I think it’s going to be cool. I’m very excited.”

Speaking to Variety, Spaeny gave some insight into director Fede Álvarez’s film, confirming rumours that it will be “sandwiched” between the first and second Alien films.

“It’s supposed to slot in between the first movie and the second movie. They brought the same team from ‘Aliens,’ the James Cameron film. The same people who built those xenomorphs actually came on and built ours. So getting to see the original design with the original people who have been working on these films for 45-plus years and have been so much of their life has been really incredible.”

Supplementing a long-running franchise with a sequel/prequel/reboot isn’t too unusual these days. After all, Superman Returns, Terminator: Dark Fate, or the latest horror film, Sawyer X, continue after the (often acclaimed) parts. Thus, they ignore what follows.

So, it looks like Alien: Romulus will follow this trend and drop audiences between two of the series’ most beloved parts.

However, this does not mean that we will also see the appearance of Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley. After all, Alien: Romulus is expected to be an independent story.
