According to Insider Gaming, Rogue Prince of Persia will be released on Steam in Early Access later this year, but it won’t be a regular PoP title…
Looks like Ubisoft still wants to release Prince of Persia games. In the past, these were defined as action-adventure games that combined platforming, puzzles, and combat elements. However, a few months ago, The Lost Crown, a 2D Metroidvania clone, was released, which was well received by the community and the trade press. If you like the variety, the good news is that more are coming soon, as you can see below.
Insider Gaming has reported via Tom Henderson that a new PoP game is in the works. Surprisingly, it is not developed by one of Ubisoft’s studios! The team responsible for creating the work is Evil Empire, another studio founded by Motion Twin (authors of Dead Cells and its accompanying DLCs). The report shared by the famous journalist mentions name, date and platforms.
The game is called Rogue Prince of Persia and will be released on Steam via Early Access in late 2024.
It is a rogue-lite that will receive continuous free updates based on community feedback. Apparently, this title has been in development for over four years now. Because Ubisoft and Evil Empire agreed on it at GDC 2019. This game will almost certainly arrive before Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. The development of the latter is said to be already in an advanced state.
More details about the new Prince of Persia game
It is not known when Rogue Prince of Persia will be officially announced. However, we already know that the art style is based on French-Belgian comics.
Dead Cells is a game that has sold more than 10 million copies, and they announced a few months ago that they are ending post-release content and focusing on their following projects.
Regarding the previous title in the franchise, it should be said that Ubisoft has announced free content-filled updates, including an unreleased DLC for The Lost Crown. The latter became the second-best game of the series on Metacritic a few days after its release. However, the bad news is that it didn’t sell very well. After all, according to the news, only 300,000 copies of it were sold in the first weeks. His future might be brighter.
