New Images of The Wolf Among Us 2 Surfaced

The development of the second season is just as difficult as it was for Telltale to get back on its feet, as the studio went out of business while this game was in development, and with several years having passed since then, we may be starting to see more of the Bigby story.

Geoff Keighley, host and organizer of The Game Awards and Summer Game Fest, shared pictures of the game, which must have been in development hell for quite some time, on Twitter. The game is being worked on by Deck Nine alongside Telltale, and you can see that the interface has been updated as we investigate, and of course the dialog hasn’t been left out.

Telltale’s episodic adaptation of Bill Willingham’s comic book was a success, but for years the studio wondered whether or not to move forward with a sequel. Finally, in 2017, it decided to begin work on The Wolf Among Us 2, which was originally scheduled for 2018 and then 2019. In the meantime, the original iteration of Telltale was shut down, but the name was resurrected under LCG Entertainment, and at The Game Awards 2019, it was announced that development on the game was back on track.

At The Game Awards 2022, we saw a video of the game, so perhaps we were right to hope that a sequel to Bigby’s story might be in our hands in 2023. Then came the layoffs, and Telltale confirmed to IGN that development on The Wolf Among Us 2 will continue. Deck Nine (where the work environment is not the best; something we wrote about recently) was originally a development partner (The Expanse: The Telltale Series was also a joint venture), and 20% of the staff there was laid off (at Telltale, “most” was laid off). This affected the development of Deck Nine, but Telltale has confirmed that work on the game will continue in-house.

We just wonder when this game will be released. Maybe this year. Maybe 2025. The best thing to do is not guess and keep quiet. We can’t go wrong with that.
