Surprising Data From PS Store: We Wouldn’t Have Believed It A Few Years Ago!

The top 25 PlayStation games on the PS Store currently include seven Xbox games but only five Sony games…

Digital stores for consoles are very important for both companies and gamers. Especially since the digital format is increasingly dominating the market. Sony has its own PlayStation Store, and today, an interesting fact has been revealed. Surprisingly, not a few of Microsoft’s own games are currently among the best sellers in the PS Store.

TweakTown has noticed that there are currently more Xbox bestsellers in the PS Store than PlayStation bestsellers!

In the list of the first 25 titles, 7 Microsoft games are among the best sellers, while only 5 of Sony’s own titles are. This phenomenon would have been unthinkable a few years ago. However, the industry has changed a lot in the last five years. Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard and Bethesda, Sony acquired Bungie, and games-as-a-service dominate the current landscape.

Still, a few things are worth noting in the list below as of April 18, 2024. One is that the PS Store leaderboard changes daily. On the other hand, free-to-play titles that also include micropayments were included. These are consistently among the best sellers. On Microsoft’s page, we see that it owns Call of Duty, Overwatch 2, Minecraft, Fallout 4, Fallout 76, Grounded, and Sea of Thieves. The latter two titles are coming to PS5 because Xbox’s strategy has changed regarding its own games.

On the PlayStation website, among the titles published and distributed by Sony are Helldivers 2, Stellar Blade, and Rise of the Ronin. Among the games developed by studios owned by PlayStation are Destiny 2 and MLB The Show 24. Incidentally, the latter has been available on Game Pass since the day of its release. All this clearly shows that although the two companies are rivals in certain areas, they also cooperate for commercial purposes.
