A PlayStation Console Exclusive is Coming to Xbox Series!

Of course, the exclusivity in this case is only on console (as the game in question was also released on PC), but it has been leaked that this is over, as it has been rated for another platform.

The US ESRB has rated a game that will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC from September 2021. However, this game is not a DLC expansion or a remaster, but an Xbox series port. The game in question is Kena: Bridge of Spirits, which has been available on Sony consoles and PC for two and a half years. At the time, it was a time-limited Epic Games Store exclusive, but that period has expired as well.

Coinciding with the game’s release was an interview with Josh Grier, co-founder of Ember Lab, the company developing the game. Even then, Grier said he wouldn’t rule out porting his game to other platforms. At the time, the studio was focusing on PlayStation and Epic Games Store releases, and those had timed exclusives, but after release, they would first take a break and then look at other places to release the story-driven action-adventure that combines exploration with fast-paced combat. The game was last updated in September 2022. That’s when it was released on Steam, and the anniversary update added New Game+ to Kena: Bridge of Spirits.

The reception of the game was quite good. The average Metacritic score on PlayStation 4 is 76 on a scale of 1 to 100, 81 on PlayStation 5, and 83 on PC, so it’s a pretty good game, and it will be getting an Xbox Series release soon. This is likely to be officially announced by Microsoft at the Xbox Games Showcase in June, and could even be a release that suddenly appears on the Redmond-based company’s consoles during the show. (The shadow drop strategy was already done with Hi-Fi Rush, and it became one of the best games of 2023…)

The Xbox port of Kena: Bridge of Spirits is not official yet.
