Star Trek Legend William Shatner May Be About To Do Something Few Would Have Believed!

MOVIE NEWS – William Shatner thinks reprising his role as James T. Kirk is an “interesting idea,” but he won’t be returning for just a cameo.

William Shatner isn’t going to let a little thing like the death of James T. Kirk stop him from reprising the iconic role. Captain Kirk was killed almost 30 years ago when he teamed up with Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart) at the end of Star Trek Generations (1994). Despite not having donned the character for nearly three decades, Shatner thinks returning to Star Trek is an “exciting idea.” While promoting Shatner’s new documentary, You Can Call Me Bill, the original Kirk also spoke out. Shatner told the Canadian Press (according to Global News):

“It’s an intriguing idea […] It’s almost impossible, but it was a great role and so well-written. And if there were a reason to be there not just to make a cameo appearance, but if there were a genuine reason for the character appearing, I might consider it.”

Captain Kirk leaves the comfort of the euphoric Nexus to return to Veridian III with Captain Picard to stop the evil plans of the delusional Dr. Soran (Malcolm Macdowell).

Although the captains are successful, Kirk falls to his death while preventing the launch of Soran’s sun-destroying probe.

William Shatner’s theory about the resurrection of James T. Kirk

James T. Kirk has always been one of the most beloved Star Trek: The Original Series (TOS) characters. But when Kirk and Picard teamed up on Star Trek Generations, producer Rick Berman and screenwriters Brannon Braga and Ronald D. Moore decided it was time to say goodbye to the character. William Shatner’s version of Kirk has not been seen for the past three decades. The U.S.S. However, the captain of the Enterprise is able to resurrect Kirk. Shatner said in the same interview:

“A company that wants to freeze my body and my brain for the future might be a way of going about it. ‘We’ve got Captain Kirk’s brain frozen here.’ There’s a scenario. ‘Let’s see if we can bring back a little bit of this, a little salt, a little pepper. Oh, look at that: Here comes Captain Kirk!”

Kirk’s death in Generations was highly controversial. The decision goes far beyond what fans think of it. In fact, the OG Mr. Chekov actor Walter Koenig despises that the character was killed off the way Berman, Moore and Braga did. But even at 93, Shatner is willing to come back and play again in the sandbox of the Star Trek universe.
