Jeremy Renner’s Sad Confession: Still Suffering From The Aftermath Of His Near-Death Experience?!

MOVIE NEWS – Jeremy Renner had a hard time recovering from filming the Mayor of Kingstown. He says he fell asleep during filming after his accident in 2023…

It’s been more than a year since Jeremy Renner’s unfortunate snow plough accident left the MCU star with 38 broken bones and a punctured lung. Even though the actor is back filming Season 3 of the hit series Mayor of Kingstown, Renner admitted that his recovery hasn’t been as quick as he’d hoped. In fact, he felt he was “overworked” during filming.

Speaking to the L.A. Times, the actor recalled his exhaustion during filming, just a year after his accident left him hospitalized and unable to walk for three months.

The actor began the interview by saying that he still thinks about the accident. “I relive it every night. It’s in my visions. It’s in my dreams and my waking thoughts.”

Renner then talked about the first few weeks of filming The Mayor of Kingstown. Renner leads the series (which also stars Emma Laird, Natasha Marc, Nichole Calicia, Kyle Chandler and Aidan Gillen) as the head of the McLusky family, the town’s mediator between criminals and justice. Renner returned to filming on what he calls the “anniversary of his death” (one year after the day of his accident). At first, he found it incredibly difficult to come back. The actor reported on his physical exhaustion during filming as follows:

“They go, ‘And action!’ And I was out. We realized they worked me too hard, too many hours, too many days in a row.”

Renner has experienced firsthand that physical recovery is sometimes a game of patience. Also, the body cannot always be forced to keep up with the mind. Renner continued:

“What I’m willing to do is everything, but what I’m able to do is a different thing.”

Jeremy Renner is always open to an MCU return

In addition to being a two-time Oscar-nominated actor, Renner is perhaps best known for his longtime role as Hawkeye in the MCU. Renner made his debut as the character in Kenneth Branagh’s Thor in 2011.

Since then, he’s reprised the role seven times on screen, as well as leading his own Disney+ series, aptly titled Hawkeye – opposite Hailee Steinfeld.

While Renner currently has no plans to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the actor said he would love to reprise his role as Clint Barton/Hawkeye at any time. Speaking earlier, Renner said, “I’m always game [for returning to the MCU].” The actor then went on to say that his old MCU co-stars have been incredibly supportive during his recovery from the accident. Renner continued:

“I’m gonna be strong enough, that’s for sure. I’ll be ready. All those guys come to my bedside and they’ve been with me all along through this recovery, so… if they want me, they could have me. It would be something.”

Fans are hoping that Renner will return to join Steinfeld in the second season of the hit series Hawkeye. Season 1 was seen as a torch-passing moment between Renner’s Clint Barton and Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop. However, Barton could quickly return for the second season…
