[SOP 2024] Silent Hill 2 Remake: We Finally Know When it’s Coming [VIDEO]

Konami and the Bloober team have finally publicly announced when we can expect the remake of Silent Hill 2, which was released over two decades ago (and is still considered an excellent game).

Silent Hill 2 Remake is now available for pre-order on PlayStation 5 (PlayStation Network) and PC (Steam). The base version will cost $70. Those who pre-order will receive one mask on PC and two on PlayStation 5 (PlayStation 5 exclusive Robbie the Rabbit mask, and on PC James can wear the Mira the Dog mask). There will also be a Digital Deluxe version, but it will cost $80. This will give you the digital art book, the digital soundtrack, and James will get a Pyramid Head (pizza box) mask. Unfortunately, Konami is also doing the reprehensible here: If you pre-order this version, you can start playing two days earlier.

In the first video below, we see more of the Silent Hill 2 Remake, and it turns out that Angela’s character might have been reworked too much, as she has a slightly comical look to her. Previously, James also got a face-lift, so we wouldn’t be surprised if the Polish developers also tweaked Angela’s look to make her more in line with the others for the launch. There are a few other videos that you can check out below: the second shows almost 14 minutes of gameplay (using the Resident Evil 4 camera angle) and has a very Resident Evil feel to it, bringing less of the style we’re used to from the franchise; the third has interviews with the developers, the fourth has interviews with the cast, and the fifth is the Silent Hill Transmission.

Silent Hill 2 Remake still seems to be controversial (especially if you read the Steam forum), so Team Bloober took a risky step by remaking the game, when a quality remaster not seen on the PS3/X360 pair would have sufficed. The game will be released on October 8th for PlayStation 5 and PC, with the Digital Deluxe Edition available for pre-order from October 6th.
