Flintlock: The Siege Of Dawn: A44’s Action-Fantasy-RPG Hybrid Is Coming And Now You Can Try It For Free! [VIDEO]

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn has it all: a bit of Souls here, a bit of Bloodborne there; all this does not prevent the game from finding its own way.

We’ve been waiting and waiting and waiting for a release date for Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, but our patience has been rewarded with a double dose of good news. Indeed, the game made a brief appearance at the Xbox Showcase to reveal a killer new trailer (see below) and the news A44 fans have been waiting for for years: a final, actual, honest release date.

The action RPG arrives on July 18th, which is just over a month away.

The trailer shows brief details of combat, from melee slashing to long-range explosive shots to a strange beam used to kill hordes.

But the even bigger news is that we got a demo as part of the Steam Next Fest. The Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn demo has been available for download on the game’s Steam page since yesterday when the festival started.

An interesting fact about the genre of the game was presented in the trailer at the time of release. We’ve known for a long time that Flintlock has elements of Soulslikes, as well as visual fighters (movements are animated to a beat, after all). While combat has some basic Souls-like mechanics like dodging and parrying, players must also “prepare” enemies in order to deal critical damage. You also have a companion named Enki, who helps you in combat, but also allows you to move around the world.

The trailer described the game as “Souls-lite”, a term used for less brutally difficult or hardcore Soulslikes. The demo will probably be available until June 17th as part of Steam Next Fest, so you might want to check it out if you’re interested in the game.

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn will be a first-day Game Pass release on PC and Xbox Series X/S, but will also be released on PS5 on the same day.

It will be available for purchase on PC on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
