Deep Cuts: A Horror Rescue Mission in VR [VIDEO]

Scythe Dev Team, who previously developed Happy’s Humble Burger Farm, and tinyBuild are developing a game for PlayStation VR2 (also) that unleashes the creations of the two filmmakers.

Deep Cuts is a cinematic horror virtual reality rescue mission. Following the success of Happy’s Humble’s Burger Farm, Scythe and tinyBuild return with another exhilarating horror experience, this time blending it with classic cinema in a whole new way only possible in virtual reality. Immerse yourself in a chaotic, physics-based action game with highly interactive worlds, a hair-raising atmosphere and a rich narrative. Filmmaker Elise Weber and her best friend/creative partner Malcolm Micheaux enjoyed an illustrious career until their villainous cartoon creations went insane. As Elise, explore the Lights Camera Faction studios in hopes of saving Malcolm. Enter a series of blockbuster worlds based on the duo’s extensive film catalog alongside Bowie, the only sane cartoon character left.

Take Elise right into the heart of a movie set. Survive the ’80s horror-inspired “Forsaken Festival”, fend off creatures in the ’70s space thriller “Origin Drill”, or take a stroll through the Wild West in “Bastard Town”. Each blockbuster world is filled with interactive objects – grab a boom microphone for an improvised weapon, fire a prop machine gun, and discover hidden lore. Solve intricate puzzles with the help of time manipulation abilities and wield the power of the ultimate movie director!

Kaleb Alfadda, Director, Founder and Chief Technical Engineer of the Scythe Dev Team, said in a press release, “With Deep Cuts, we’ve utilized every inch of the Meta Quest hardware to create an unparalleled experience that pushes the boundaries of what’s possible in the physical virtual reality medium. Our team meticulously optimized every aspect to ensure smooth performance and rich, detailed environments that truly bring the game to life. We’re excited to offer players an experience that unlocks the full potential of the hardware and raises the bar for standalone virtual reality.”

Deep Cuts will first be released for Meta Quest and will be available for PlayStation VR2 and SteamVR in 2025.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
