Sad News for Final Fantasy Fans: We’re Waiting in Vain for a Big Return…

Hironobu Sakaguchi has no plans to return, but he also admitted that he loves Final Fantasy XIV.

If you played the early Final Fantasy games, you know who Hironobu Sakaguchi is. He is the creator of Square Enix’s recognized and popular franchise. The Japanese creative has directed, supervised and produced numerous titles. However, he left the company in 2003 and founded his own studio, Mistwalker. He was responsible for such iconic works as Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey. But many players are now wondering if he’ll return to the franchise he started his career with.

Sakaguchi gave an interview to Bloomberg in which he admitted that he is not ready to return to the Final Fantasy franchise, but also said that he is obsessed with the MMO directed by Naoki Yoshida.

“Now I almost live in Final Fantasy XIV. If I take on the Final Fantasy brand again, I don’t know if I’ll be able to genuinely enjoy Final Fantasy XIV as much,” for which the Dawntrail expansion was recently released.

“On a rare occasion – I want to stress ‘rare occasion’ – sometimes one of the Mistwalker team members will hop on Final Fantasy XIV, and I’ll see a message saying, ‘Hey, the meeting’s started,'”. On the other hand, the creator of Final Fantasy also admitted that he is not willing to remaster classic games like Blue Dragon or Lost Odyssey. However, he admitted that he would like to revive the no-longer-playable mobile strategy game Terra Battle.

The latest game from the creator of Final Fantasy

Fantasian: Neo Dimension, coming to consoles in a few months, was recently unveiled. It is the latest RPG from the creator of the FF series, which will be available for all platforms this winter. That is, for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam. The game was released exclusively on Apple Arcade in 2021, but now it will debut on consoles in an improved version.
