Tekken’s Boss would Humorously Charge Money for Lectures!

Of course, you don’t have to take what Tekken director Katsuhiro Harada says at face value, but he still responds to fan comments in a very classy way.

Sometimes he responds with an entire article’s worth of content (citing that it’s lunch time), sometimes he keeps it a little shorter, but still responds to the comments in a snarky, humorous way. It all started with a funny retweet this time, when Harada told a fan to buy 50 copies of Tekken 8 if he wanted Anna Williams to be one of the characters in the game. He then shared a video of the character, to which a fan responded that he always loses to his sister Nina, even though she is liked and considered popular. Harada then responded with a longer answer that could be summarized as there is no favoritism.

“I can’t remember how many times I’ve written here since I started Twitter, but there’s no way I hate certain characters. If I seem to like or dislike them, it is just your misunderstanding because they are all like my children. You just see something distorted by your assumptions. I’m also the one who’s most disturbed by the popularity pecking order that appears for characters, however inevitable it is (more to the point, popularity and usage are two separate factors).

Also, if we keep all the traditional characters, there will be no room to introduce new ones. But introducing 50-70 characters into a game from the beginning is unrealistic in every way. It should also be understood that all needs have opposite sides. Furthermore, I’ll say it again… your love for the characters is distorting your view of things, and it’s so absurd that you unilaterally think negatively about my point of view because of it,” Harada wrote.

The idea of no favoritism was interpreted from a different angle by someone else, who thought that new characters were introduced every time a game was played because it did not seem to make business sense. Harada also reacted to this: “What’s wrong? Do I have to explain it to you from every angle? Then from now on, I’ll charge you tuition for lectures on ‘what video games are,’ ‘what game development is,’ ‘what the game market is,’ ‘what the game business is,’ and so on. Also, before we talk about your business perspective, please tell me your business track record.”

Seriously, these comments make him worth following!
