Matthew McConaughey looks like he’s getting ready to play a pirate captain. But its appearance is the result of an unpleasant accident. He was stung by a bee.
On Wednesday, July 10, McConaughey, 54, shared a close-up photo of himself on Instagram with his right eye completely swollen shut. Although the actor did not elaborate on what exactly happened to him, he referred to the unfortunate incident with a word joke: “Bee swell”.
Despite the alarming eye injury, McConaughey otherwise looked cheerful in the photo, grinning into the camera.
Aside from McConaughey’s apparent uterus incident, the actor has been pretty busy lately. On Sunday, July 7, he and his wife Camila Alves McConaughey shared birthday wishes for their oldest son Levi, sharing a montage of photos of the 16-year-old with his parents and an audio message.
Matthew and Camila also have two younger children: 14-year-old daughter Vida and 11-year-old son Livingston.

Matthew McConaughey is one of the most recognized and talented actors in Hollywood today. His first leading role was in the legal drama Time to Kill (1996), which launched his Hollywood career. In the ’90s, he appeared in films such as Contact (1997), Amistad (1997) and U-571 (2000).
