Fallout: London: Back to the Original Plans – Many of You Won’t Be Happy About That!

Modders say the full conversion of Fallout 4 to a version of the game is not stable enough, so the team backed out at the last moment.

Fallout: London is set in the UK instead of the US, and promises to be a pretty hefty mod. It was supposed to be released in April, but Bethesda Game Studios (BGS) seemed to sabotage it when a next-gen update for Fallout 4 was suddenly released right before launch. Dean Carter, project lead for Fallout: London, said in an interview with the BBC that BGS “screwed them over, for lack of a better word,” though there was no such thing as the developers informing modders of their plans, and Fallout: London was not part of Bethesda’s Certified Creator Program…

It’s been three months, and we’re now at the finish line for Fallout: London, according to Team Folon. We wrote that the team was just waiting for GOG certification. Even though BGS has released a patch for Fallout 4, VATS is still not good, ultra-wide screens are not supported, and because of this, Team Folon is asking everyone to restart their game from the version with the next-gen update.

“GOG has been amazing through all of this. What with us having things break because of the next-gen update. Then waiting for them to be fixed, only to find out at the 11th hour that the next-gen [update] isn’t stable enough, even after updates, and so we’re now going back to the old version (hence the need for a downgrader)… [GOG’s] commitment to help and support is exemplary,” Team Folon said.

The reason there is no automatic downgrade before Fallout: London is because Team Folon doesn’t want to maintain multiple versions at once, and they would have to. But the mod will be released soon, and it will give Fallout 4 a new lease on life.
