The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom: Will There Be Another Playable Character Next to Princess Zelda?!

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom ESRB description reveals some details about the playable characters Link and Zelda…

Nintendo releases a new video game in The Legend of Zelda series, bringing adventure and fun to millions of players. The upcoming title Echoes of Wisdom will finally have Princess Zelda as the playable protagonist. The community has been urging this change for years. However, it was unknown if the game had any surprises in store in the form of other playable characters.

The ESRB description of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom confirms that Link, Miyamoto’s franchise’s eternal protagonist, will also be a playable character!

However, this does not change the fact that Zelda is central to the adventure. It looks like you’ll be playing as the princess for most of the game. You can only control Link during certain parts of the game.

“This is an adventure game in which players assume the role of Zelda as she attempts to dispel rifts throughout Hyrule and rescue Link. From a ¾-overhead perspective, players explore various environments while fighting stylized enemies (e.g., humans, creatures). As Link, players use a sword and arrows to defeat enemies; Zelda can use a magic wand to summon creatures for battle. Some enemies can be defeated by being set on fire; other creatures dissolve into mist when defeated. Battle sequences are somewhat frenetic, with several enemies attacking/fighting at once,” – reads the ESRB description.

Nintendo confirmed in its latest Direct that The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will debut exclusively on Switch on September 26th. In the title, Zelda must save the kingdom of Hyrule from the rifts that are forming, while also saving Link. To do this, the princess must team up with the mysterious fairy, Tri, and use the wand’s power to create copies of objects found in the world, which can be used to defeat enemies and solve puzzles scattered throughout the world.
