Nocturnal II: Let’s Use the Flame’s Power in this Fiery Metroidvania!

Sunnyside Games has announced the sequel to their recently released game, so they didn’t make much fuss with the announcement…

Nocturnal II is a hand-drawn, juggling-based Metroidvania with a unique core feature: as a master of the Enduring Flame technique, a single blow to a fire source sets your sword ablaze, allowing you to push back the darkness and unleash stylish abilities. Use your flame wisely, however, as it can be quickly extinguished by the many enemies that will try to keep you in the dark.

Explore a non-linear world in this Metroidvania title – burn your way through the city of Ytash to reach the First Brazier. With a unique fire system, keeping your flame lit is the only way to survive the many dangers that lie ahead. Maintain it at all costs by attacking fire sources and protecting it to better see enemy attacks.

Master your flames to hurl enemies and juggle them into ashes. Mix and match fire gems to unlock new spells! Immerse yourself in a fully hand-drawn, 2D animated world. Nocturnal II is designed to be consumed in a relatively short amount of time, but there are many surprises on the menu for those who seek different paths… and true revelations. The style is certainly unusual at first, judging by the images, but a closer look might convince us. The hand-drawn style is not exactly common, but maybe that’s what makes it so eye-catching.

Nocturnal by Sunnyside Games is published by Dear Villagers. It was released not so long ago, on June 7th, just over a month ago, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC (Steam), PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. However, Nocturnal II will be released on fewer platforms than that: the game is scheduled to appear on Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam) sometime in 2025.
