TECH NEWS – Sony is currently being doubly blessed by PS5 system update mishaps…
It’s not enough that Sony is receiving heavy criticism for its latest PS5 system update. This is the second time within 24 hours that they have managed to provoke the indignation of the fans. (The PS4 system update 11.52 also left something to be desired among players.)
The PS5 system version 24.05 update came out the night before yesterday. And users quickly fell for Sony, saying that the operation and performance of the new update is not really convincing…
Now, to be fair, it wasn’t all useless. The update included some nice quality updates to things like voice commands, the PS5 Game Help feature, and a user-friendly way to invite other players to game sessions, allowing users to share links with each other.
That’s about it for the specifics. As for what is less specific, Sony was also happy to announce it.
Updates for “system software performance and stability” and “wireless controller” stability are listed. This apparently amused most PS5 gamers, as the improvements mentioned are inherently obscure.
Reactions ranged from things like “Nothing gets me going quite like a changelog with ‘Minor changes and improvements'” to more cheeky comments like “Do not update: my PS5 is now SO STABLE, that I can’t play it due to the Earth’s rotation. I now have to book a trip to the International Space Station.”
Among the many ironic texts was an interesting comment from a Korean user.
A change not mentioned in the English patch notes for the update indicated that Korean players suddenly started pinging every time they played for a certain amount of time: “Surely no one will notice since it’s Korea specific, but I received a system message while playing telling me to take a break because I was playing for one hour. Wasn’t here before the update!”
Why Sony quietly rolled out this update specifically for Korean gamers is a mystery for now. However, this is not the first time South Korean players’ gaming habits have been affected by such restrictions.
