Sony Bombards Unlucky Tekken 8 Player’s Email Account!

There’s nothing wrong with Sony sending out a newsletter every once in a while (let’s say weekly) about developments around the company, but sometimes they go overboard, and this time it’s safe to say so.

We read on Reddit that one unfortunate PlayStation user has been literally bombarded with emails from Sony for the past two months. He was constantly receiving emails about Tekken 8 (one a day, according to the attached image, and the subject line was always “Get ready for the next round in Tekken 8”) and was forced to unsubscribe from the popular newsletter. The person asked in vain if others had done the same, but was laughed at on Reddit, which is not very fair. It is true that Tekken 8 followed a similar path.

Why god why. Has this been happening to anyone else?

When it was released, it achieved one of the highest Metacritic ratings of any game released in 2024, but Tekken 8 also quickly lost its reputation when Bandai Namco forced a shop and battle pass into the game. Because of this, the public called the publisher greedy and didn’t like the lack of communication as they released this update out of the blue without any announcement, causing Tekken 8’s ratings to plummet to “mostly negative” (the second worst category) on Steam.

There were a few positive comments on Reddit. One person suggested changing their email settings, and another person was getting emails just as often, but not about Tekken 8, but about Genshin Impact. Unsubscribing is only an option if you agree to miss out on other news in exchange for not being notified about upcoming PlayStation Plus games or PlayStation Store sales.

We have to wonder, though, whose idea it was to send out a daily email about a game that needs to be picked up by the recipient. Not everyone has the time to do this every day.
