[GC 2024] Starfield: New Vehicles, Graphics Enhancements, and DLC Release Date Announced [VIDEO]

Bethesda has revealed a lot about Starfield, which has been out for almost a year now; Todd Howard and his team are not entirely working on The Elder Scrolls VI…

Let’s start with the August Update. The free August update introduces the REV-8 ground vehicle. The REV-8 gives players the freedom to explore new frontiers and reach new heights in their own personal cruiser. The REV-8 comes equipped with a mounted turret, armor for added protection while driving, room for a companion, and boosters to cover ground faster or get out of a sticky situation. Boosters can even add some jumping to the ride, allowing players to soar through the air and reach areas that would have been much harder to reach before. To launch the REV-8, players visit a ship service technician to install a vehicle module. Once installed on the ship of their choice, the REV-8 will automatically deploy outside the ship wherever players land.

Also available in the August update are new Xbox Series S display settings that mirror the existing Xbox Series X settings. You can now choose between 30, 40, 60, or an uncapped frame rate on VRR displays. If you do not have a VRR display running at 120 Hz, you will still be able to choose from 30 or 60. If you select 60 on a non-VRR display, you may experience occasional screen tearing. You can now prioritize between visuals and performance while trying to maintain the frame rate target. If you’re selecting a frame rate target of 60 or higher, we recommend changing it to Performance. Prioritizing Visuals will maintain the highest resolution while preserving full detail for special effects, lighting, and crowds.

Prioritizing performance reduces internal resolution and detail for special effects, lighting, and crowds. Both modes can also dynamically adjust internal resolution as scenes or action become more intense. When switching between modes, you will see a brief change in lighting as the system catches up to the new mode. You can now toggle between VSync on and off. Turning it off will separate the game’s frames from the monitor’s refresh rate and may cause the screen to tear. Turning it on will synchronize the frame rate to the monitor’s refresh rate, preventing screen tearing but limiting the number of frames.

Bethesda Game Studios has announced a September 30, 2024 release date for Shattered Space. Explore the new city of Dazra on the hidden homeworld of House Va’Ruun. Investigate a terrifying cosmic threat, explore the home planet of House Va’Ruun, and find unique weapons, spacesuits, and equipment in this all-new adventure. Owners of the Premium or Constellation Edition of Starfield will receive Shattered Space as part of their original purchase. Base Edition owners can still purchase the Premium Upgrade for access to Shattered Space plus other digital items, including the Digital Art Book, Original Soundtrack, 1,000 Creation Credits, and the Constellation Skin Pack.

Starfield Shattered Space will be released on September 30th for Xbox Series and PC.
