PlayStation Portal is Still Going Strong – Has Sony’s Reckoning Really Worked?!

TECH NEWS – PlayStation Portal has been the best-selling add-on in the USA for several months, both in terms of dollars and units sold.

What did you think when PlayStation launched PS Portal? It is true that the device is not designed for everyone’s needs, but there are gamers who consider it a good opportunity to play PS5 games in a more mobile way without sitting in front of the TV. Despite its limitations and criticism, Sony has admitted that it is pleased with the reception of PS Portal, and for good reason.

In this regard, Sony can once again boast that PS Portal continues to record significant sales and solid dollar earnings in the United States. Circana analyst Mat Piscatella recently mentioned that the PlayStation device is the top-grossing accessory in the US by 2024.

“The PlayStation Portal was the best-selling accessory in dollar sales for both July and 2024 year-to-date,” he noted (via PSU).

Months ago we heard that PS Portal was out of stock in some countries, which speculators took advantage of to sell the device at a higher price and take advantage of the situation. However, volume sales are not the same as dollar sales. Another successful accessory is the famous PS5 controller. “In units, the best-selling accessory of both July and 2024 year-to-date was the PS5 DualSense Wireless Controller Midnight Black,” says the American sales specialist.

PlayStation Portal was created to increase your gaming time

Naturally, Sony designed the device for profitability. However, the company admitted that PS Portal wasn’t designed solely to increase profits. “Rather than profitability, we want to increase playtime with PS5.” Also, remember that the PS Portal is still being updated. One of the recent patches made it easier to use at home, so it’s good news that players are getting such features.
