Thirteen years ago, the Nintendo 3DS dazzled the world with a technology that surprised millions of gamers: it was possible to enjoy 3D without glasses. Since then, options like the Apple Vision Pro have tried to capitalize on this formula. However, none of them came close to the efficiency of Nintendo’s handheld console. To the surprise of many, Samsung has become the newest player on the long list, constantly expanding over the past decade.

As the PC Gamer portal points out in a recent publication, Samsung Odyssey 3D allows you to experience stereoscopic 3D graphics without special glasses. To do this, it uses a lens system that it combines with eye-tracking cameras and can create the 3D effect with the help of advanced algorithms. As for the size and price, we still have no news about the latter, but we already know that the two models launched by the Asian company are 27 and 37 inches (approximately 69 and 94 cm).

Both Samsung models offer 4K resolution

One of their most surprising yet welcome features is that both models will have 4K resolution. Therefore, they can guarantee high-quality images. From the gamer’s side, we are happy to learn that they will have a response time of 1 ms and a refresh rate of 165 Hz. They also support FreeSync Premium, which enhances the gaming experience by reducing tearing. Finally, there is a DisplayPort 1.4 port and two HDMI 2.1 inputs.

The monitor can seamlessly switch between 2D and 3D modes thanks to its functions.

It has not yet been confirmed whether it will have advanced HDR capabilities or local backlighting, which raises questions about image quality in high-dynamic-range situations. The price of the device has also not been confirmed, but it has already been revealed that it will be available for purchase sooner rather than later. So, like Apple, Samsung drew inspiration from Nintendo for one of its most celebrated future innovations.
