Could a Lies of P Sequel Significantly Change One Key Element?

Neowiz and Round8 Studio’s game was a success, so it’s not so surprising that the South Koreans are already thinking about a sequel… but there’s one change that might surprise you!

We’ve already seen one South Korean game this year, with Stellar Blade, released as a PlayStation 5 exclusive at the end of April, and Nexon’s The First Descendant a few months later. Both games were solid (but Stellar Blade in particular was excellent). Lies of P has also been expanded in content since its release last year, but Neowiz and Round8 Studio are already looking at a sequel.

A job ad has popped up for a Field Level Designer position, with preference given to applicants with experience in open-world game development. Compared to the more linear experience of the first game, the second one will open the doors to a larger world. Technologically, there will also be a slight change, as Lies of P was made with Unreal Engine 4, but the sequel will be made with Unreal Engine 5 (and CD Projekt RED, for example, has also left behind its proprietary REDengine, so The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2077 will be made with Epic Games’ technology).

There will be other changes besides the original corridor-like maps and the Unreal Engine 4 that Lies of P 2 (Lies of Q?) will leave behind. The game will have a bigger budget than ever before, which is logical if it is really going to be an open world game. The development cycle will also increase, which means it will take longer to get the game from Neowiz and Round8 Studio in our hands, so it could take 4-5 years instead of 3, so we don’t see much chance of a release before 2027.

Of course, this is not official yet, so we’ll treat it as a rumor until then.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title.
