Wolfs: Clooney and Pitt Receives a Stellar Salary for the Movie!

MOVIE NEWS – Brad Pitt and George Clooney each received $35 million for Wolfs, which is a lot of money, especially for a streaming movie at struggling Apple…

Paying movie stars huge salaries to appear in movies is a fairly common practice. However, over the years, that has dwindled a bit, as name recognition alone is no longer enough to guarantee a significant income at the box office. The idea of a “movie star” is certainly not what it used to be. So many actors looked for other ways to get more income for their participation in the film. For example, they also come into the movie as a producer or make an agreement according to which you will receive a percentage of the project’s income from the box office success. That’s why a recent report detailing Brad Pitt and George Clooney’s pay for Apple’s new film Wolfs is particularly surprising. That’s an amazing amount for their participation.

Even more shockingly, Apple switched the film from a full theatrical release to a seven-day limited run before hitting the streaming platform.

According to The New York Times, Pitt and Clooney have each been paid $35 million to star in the upcoming action comedy written and directed by Jon Watts. In addition to what the two actors were paid, Watts secured a hefty salary for himself. He reportedly received $15 million for his work. That’s $85 million for just three people, and that doesn’t even include the rest of the film’s budget. Additionally, the film was initially slated to run exclusively in theatres before coming to the Apple TV+ platform. But those plans changed when a sequel was announced, again starring Pitt and Clooney. Following the news, it was revealed that the film will get a limited one-week theatrical run before debuting on Apple TV+ on September 27th.

Apple is changing its release strategy with Wolfs

Wolfs seems to be a product of a bygone era, when movie stars still ruled the world. The film is said to have been written for Pitt and Clooney, and they are being paid as if they had just come out of the Ocean’s movies. Don’t get me wrong, they are very good actors with Oscars and a proven filmography. However, it is no longer possible to seat crowds in the auditorium with names alone, as in the past. As for Watts, the director has helmed three Spider-Man films for the MCU, all of which have been financially successful. This partly explains his $15 million fee.

Apple will soon have another collaboration with Pitt, the sports action film F1, directed by Joseph Kosinski. We hear all kinds of news about the film’s budget. Some say it could be as much as $300 million, although the film’s producers say that figure is exaggerated. Apple acquired the distribution rights for about $130-140 million. For now, Warner Bros. distribution will release the film in theatres. All signs point to sticking with theatrical distribution, but it’s clear that Apple is starting to reassess its practices after spending a fortune on products and not seeing the expected revenue.
