Silent Hill 2 Remake: Bloober Team Explains the New UI (Or Lack Thereof) [VIDEO]

There is also a graphical filter planned for the game, which doesn’t make much sense in general, and that’s why we have the feeling that the Polish studio doesn’t take it very seriously.

The most immersive way to play Silent Hill 2 Remake will be to turn off the entire interface! How did the Bloober team justify this on Twitter? “You will have the option to turn off all UI elements! We’ve also created a “90s filter” with grain effect, color correction and screen adjustments to complete the old school experience.

With no UI, the player will naturally be guided by the game’s visuals, sound effects, and James’ behavior. He will look at important places and have different animations and facial expressions when wounded,” wrote Bloober Team, who seem to have forgotten that Silent Hill 2 wasn’t released in the ’90s (the first installment was exactly that, having debuted on the PS1 in 1999), but in 2001. It’s not the ’90s anymore.

So James gets more and more frustrated and angry the further he gets from the objective. Of course, this innovation could also win the favor of some members of the audience, as there were those who wrote that this would be 100% the best way to spend time with the Silent Hill 2 Remakes, as there would be no control interface and the visuals would navigate the player to snoop around. Actually, it’s a good idea, but we’re not sure if we can convince the doubters right away. We can’t.

Powered by Unreal Engine 5, Silent Hill 2 Remake will be released on October 8th for PlayStation 5 and PC. Until then (or instead…) it’s probably a better idea to pass the time with Silent Hill 2 Enhanced Edition, the fan-modified PC port of the original. We wrote about it recently when development was completed.
