The game, which was recently released in Hungary, has only managed to attract a small number of players, and even fewer have actually purchased it.
The first trailer for Unknown 9: Awakening was unveiled earlier this spring, and it showcased a beautifully designed game that sparked interest among gamers. Many thought it had the potential to shake up the action-adventure genre. However, when the game, developed by Sweet Baby Inc., started receiving negative feedback on the Steam forums, and those reviews were mysteriously deleted later — more details HERE — it became clear that something was amiss. The game has now officially launched, but the reception has been underwhelming, to say the least.
On October 17th, Unknown 9: Awakening became available, but instead of drawing in crowds of players, only a handful have started their adventure on Steam — at the moment, just 127 people are playing — and the game has been hit with terrible reviews. Out of 43 reviews, only 25% are positive, which speaks volumes. Some users reported that they received the game for free with their CPU purchase, but many regret even spending the time to try it.
“The character animations are awkward, enemies freeze up and fall over like mannequins after being defeated. The game ran okay overall, but during transitions, it nearly crashed. Honestly, it feels and looks like a project that needs at least another year of development,” reads one review.
It’s clear that Unknown 9: Awakening has turned out to be a major misstep, and with such a disastrous launch, it’s already secured a place among the year’s biggest failures. In hindsight, delaying the release might have been a better move to ensure a more polished product hit the market.
