Resident Evil 4 Remake has achieved something incredible that previous games have not, and that is reaching 8 million sales in record time. Resident Evil 4 Remake took 19 months to reach 8 million copies sold, while Village took 25 months to reach the same milestone.
It’s been more than a year since we last saw any major new content for Resident Evil 4 Remake, with Ada Wong’s expansion providing the final touch to what many consider one of the best games in Capcom’s survival horror lineup. The game was hailed as one of the top titles of 2023, even securing a nomination for Game of the Year. Since then, it has consistently sold well, and now it has broken a significant sales record.
Just a few days ago, Capcom announced that Resident Evil 4 Remake has reached an impressive 8 million copies sold since its release in March 2023. While it’s not yet the best-selling game in the Resident Evil series, Capcom can proudly say it’s one of the fastest-selling in their history, outpacing its predecessors. It only took 19 months to reach this milestone, which is faster than Resident Evil Village.
Ethan Winters’ story in Resident Evil Village took 25 months to reach the 8 million mark. Meanwhile, Resident Evil 2 Remake, which has now surpassed 14 million plays, took more than two years to achieve the same number of sales. Given the success of these remakes, Capcom is likely to continue down this path, with rumors circulating that the next Resident Evil remakes could be Code Veronica and Zero.
