Meet Benny, Tolly, Safia, and Lou in the Chinese Room game you shouldn’t expect to see this year.
“While the Camarilla Court has its personalities, the vibe of the trailer is perfect for the spooky season as viewers get a glimpse of how Seattle’s Kindred interact with players. Between Benny’s potty mouth, Tolly’s quirks, Safia’s flighty nature, and Lou’s demanding presence, players will have to learn how to interact with them to get exactly what they need,” the official synopsis reads.
The video is just over a minute long, but in that time, everyone gets a good taste of the action, whether it’s combat or dialogue. It also features the game’s 15th developer diary from August, in which The Chinese Room talks about the dialog system. Of course, it’s not possible to get to know all four characters in this amount of time, but at least we have a starting point to know what to expect. The studio said back in August that they wanted to make sure that the choices didn’t have hidden dialog options or choices that would screw us up because they didn’t add the necessary context and backstory to everything. That can happen in a lot of story-based games.
According to the studio’s website, we’re lucky to have Benny on the Prince’s side because he’s the bone crusher, the sheer force that’s looking out for Seattle’s best interests. Safia is the scientist who can answer the questions, and we’ll probably find her in her lab or at the Wake the Dead cafe under a ton of books, studying why vampire bloodlines are thinning. If we criticize Lou, we criticize the whole town, and Seattle has a habit of burying its opponents quickly, so he’s pretty influential. And Tolly is always gathering information and constantly weaving a web for the court…
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG) in the first half of 2025.
