TECH NEWS – A major UK retailer has already slashed the price of the PS5 Pro…
PlayStation launched the PS5 Pro six days ago, and while we don’t know the exact sales figures, we can assume that the more powerful version of the PS5 hasn’t sold as well as PlayStation had hoped. Not only is the console readily available pretty much everywhere, but one major UK retailer hasn’t even given it a week before slashing the price of the Pro.
Argos was first spotted by VGC as it slashed the price of the PlayStation 5 Pro. The console’s RRP is £700 in the UK, but Argos has already slashed that price to £659.99. The listing doesn’t mention that it’s on sale, nor does it say how much the PS5 Pro would normally cost. This is good news for those who are planning to buy one but don’t have £660 lying around at the moment, as this could suggest that this is a permanent price cut.
Despite Argos slashing £40 off the price of the PS5 Pro, the new model of PlayStation’s latest console is still significantly more expensive than it is in the US.
On paper, the $700 and £700 price tag for the same product might not seem like much. However, when you convert pounds to dollars, it becomes clear that the PS5 Pro is almost $200 more expensive in the UK than in the US! Even with Argos’ price cut, the console is still significantly more expensive in the UK.
Argos has slashed the price of the PS5 Pro after just seven days
While the PS5 Pro is the cheapest in the US, even without the price cut, it seems to have been selling quite slowly there in its first week. Scammers, expecting a repeat of the chaos of trying to find the base PS5 in stock in 2020, snapped up the Pro during the pre-order period, but are now struggling to sell it as it hasn’t sold out. The PlayStation 5 Pro is already listed on reseller sites for less than $700, and in some cases in the UK for less than Argos’ discounted price.
PlayStation ran an ad on Tuesday that ended with the slimmer PS5 being sold for $379.99. That part of the ad was quickly removed, likely because the discount was being saved for the Black Friday weekend…
