You’ll Never Guess Where Nosferatu’s Voice in the New Film Comes From!

MOVIE NEWS – As the release date approaches, more details are emerging about Nosferatu, the latest cinematic strike from Robert Eggers, one of today’s most original filmmakers, against the audience’s dull habits. Eggers promises that his vampire will terrify even those who think they know everything about the bloodthirsty Transylvanian nobleman.

Eggers has delved into medieval folklore, where vampires are highly sexualized creatures. In his film, Count Orlok doesn’t feed from the necks of his victims—or more specifically, their arteries—but we won’t spoil from where. You’ll need to see it in theaters. Even Orlok’s voice is something extraordinary. Eggers explains that he was captivated by the tone of “chain-smoking Bulgarian actors” when imagining how the musty-smelling monster would sound.

“For Orlok, every breath and every word comes with unspeakable pain,” says Bill Skarsgård, who portrays the vampire. “His voice is incredibly deep, as if it comes straight from the grave, emphasizing that he doesn’t belong to this world. He’s a completely messed-up creature who, to some extent, is uncomfortable with himself because of it.”
