Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown: XCOM with the Turtles! [VIDEO]

Strange Scaffold, best known for El Paso, Everywhere and I Am Your Beast, is making a new PC game with a slight XCOM twist.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown is the first ever turn-based TMNT video game. Inspired by the classic cartoon, you’ll experience a bold new approach to the world of the Turtles! Splinter and Shredder are dead, and as the Turtles approach adulthood, they’re not just growing up… they’re growing apart. Battle the Foot Clan as a powerful new leader takes control in action-packed campaigns that showcase each Turtle individually. Slash through enemies in 20 constantly mutating levels that grow, shrink and add new threats with each turn, inspired by classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games! Collect points for high scores while experiencing a powerful original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles story. This is the next step for Michelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo and Raphael – and you can experience it with flying, slashing characters in graphic novel-inspired glory.

20 action-packed levels divided into character-focused campaigns. A unique take on the world of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from the minds of Strange Scaffold (Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator, I Am Your Beast). Innovative turn-based beat ’em up combat, complete with mutating arenas. Gorgeous graphic novel-inspired art style with paint splatters, figures, and diorama set pieces. Customizable movesets to shape each turtle’s play style. Thumping, multi-genre soundtrack by award-winning composer RJ Lake (Unbeatable, El Paso, Elsewhere).

“Building a truly powerful licensed game requires a deep respect for the source material, a love for the fans, and a willingness to challenge the tentpoles of the universe to create something that both surprises and delights. Bringing that kind of experience to life requires an equally powerful relationship – so I will be forever grateful to Doug Rosen and the team at Paramount for their collaboration and trust in our team to create an original take on the world that soars. I get to make a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game where the very first lines of dialogue establish that Shredder and Splinter are dead. Who else can say that?” said Strange Scaffold founder Xalavier Nelson Jr. in the press release.

Paramount’s Senior Vice President of Games and Emerging Media Doug Rosen added, “Working with Xalavier Nelson Jr. and his team at Strange Scaffold has been an incredible experience. From our first conversation, it was clear that Xalavier’s vision for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown would exceed our expectations, and his approach to engaging fans in the creative process is perfect for a beloved, multi-generational brand like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. We look forward to sharing this with gamers everywhere next year.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown will be released on PC sometime next year. No word on console versions.
