We know Path of Exile 2 has you hooked, but another major RPG is gearing up to make waves. The No Rest for the Wicked developers have teased a major announcement slated for January.
Moon Studios, known for its massive success over the last decade, initially captured the spotlight in 2015 with Ori and the Blind Forest, followed by its sequel five years later. In early 2024, they ventured beyond Xbox to release the early access version of No Rest for the Wicked, a dark fantasy action RPG that immediately captivated hardcore players. With the holiday season around the corner, the Austrian studio announced a short hiatus, but promised big news early next year.
Through an official post on their X (formerly Twitter) account, Moon Studios expressed gratitude for fan support and confirmed they are hard at work on The Breach, a DLC expansion, alongside other planned updates. Although no specific release date has been revealed, the team confirmed that a significant announcement in January 2025 will likely include the highly anticipated 1.0 launch date.
“We’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for supporting No Rest for the Wicked this year. It’s been an amazing journey for Moon Studios, and we’re eager to share exciting news very soon,” the statement read. The studio also apologized for their recent silence, vowing to improve communication with their players significantly moving forward.
The gaming community eagerly awaits what’s next for this promising title. Despite early access games often struggling to maintain visibility, No Rest for the Wicked has demonstrated its potential to stand among the best. Since its early access debut, the game has solidified its reputation alongside other notable titles like Path of Exile 2 and Hades 2. Its blend of isometric exploration and challenging, yet rewarding combat has made it a standout experience.
Developers left Microsoft to expand platform availability
While Moon Studios gained much attention this year, their origins trace back to their time under Microsoft’s publishing arm. After facing distribution challenges and creative differences, they partnered with Private Division to bring the game to multiple platforms with cross-play support. Thomas Mahler, CEO of Moon Studios, expressed gratitude to Private Division for respecting their vision and providing creative freedom without forcing microtransactions.
