TECH NEWS – The cheaper iPhone may not come with a significantly hefty price tag, but one component will play a role.
The iPhone SE 4 will be released sometime in the first quarter, so by the end of March, and that alone is an indication of how Apple is reducing its reliance on Qualcomm products, as the model it calls affordable will use Apple’s own 5G modem, Centauri. Consequently, Qualcomm will not have to pay, so the Cupertino company can make the price of the iPhone SE 4 more competitive: it could be under $ 500, wrote yeux1122 on Naver.
This is much lower compared to the iPhone 16 ($ 800). The insider called the $ 500 the Japanese price, and this is great value for money anyway, and although it is in fact more expensive than the starting price of the iPhone SE 3 ($ 430), there could be a lot of changes for the SE model 4. The $500-550 we’ve heard so far may be reserved for the more storage-rich model in the latter case.
The iPhone SE 4 will feature an A18 system-on-a-chip (SoC), 8GB of memory, and a large 6.06″ (15.39cm) OLED display (no ProMotion support). The iPhone 16 will also come with an A18 SoC and 8GB of memory, so it won’t be so easy for competitors. With the A18’s more advanced neural engine and more RAM, the device should be ready to support generative (content-generating) AI capabilities, so Apple Intelligence should also work on the device.
Apple is expected to launch the MacBook Air line with the M4 chip in 2025, so we’ll have to wait a little longer for the iPhone SE 4. If the Centauri chip performs well, it will surely appear in other devices in the near future.
