TECH NEWS – The Cupertino company’s new budget iPhone won’t be that cheap, but thanks to Apple Intelligence’s artificial intelligence, it won’t be that bad either.
We’ve been hearing for a week that Apple will release the iPhone SE 4 this week, presumably alongside the new M4 MacBook Air and iPad Air. Bloomberg editor Mark Gurman has now confirmed this in his Power On newsletter. We’ve also heard that the iPhone SE 3 will be more expensive than the iPhone SE 3, and might be available for under $500, but Gurman has modified that a bit: he now says that the iPhone SE 4 will launch this week, confirming what we’ve heard so far, and that the price will be even higher than before.
Gurman is confident about the launch of the new iPhone, and he will be officially in front of the public on Wednesday or Thursday. Apple hasn’t sent out any invitations to the press yet, so it’s likely that it will unveil the iPhone SE 4 to customers with a press release. The company did the same thing when it launched the M4 MacBook Pro, with only the internals changing and the design remaining the same. If the iPhone SE 4 has a similar design to the iPhone 16, it’s understandable that the smartphone is getting off to such a quiet start.
But how much will the company charge? Gurman says $500. That will be about 600 euros in Europe. It will have either the Dynamic Island or a notch for the camera, but internally it will be identical to the iPhone 16 in terms of hardware (custom A18 chip for Apple Intelligence, 8GB of RAM, 6.1″/~15.5cm OLED display, USB-C port, and an improved camera sensor). So it won’t get an LCD display, it won’t use a Lightning port, and the camera will be better than the iPhone SE 3.
So Apple will soon officially launch the new budget iPhone.
