Santa Monica Studio and Sony Interactive Entertainment are adding a free update to the latest installment of the franchise.
The free update, which includes the Dark Odyssey Collection, will be released on March 20. Dark Odyssey was the working title of the first episode during development for PS2 in 2005, and it’s the skin you get when you play through God of War II on God Mode difficulty. This brings back the classic black and gold theme for the franchise’s 20th birthday, and when the update arrives you’ll be able to pick up the collection from any Lost Items chest, or get it automatically if you’re in Valhalla.
Dark Odyssey’s armor and appearance are coming for Kratos, but our comrade (and son) Atreus will also be getting a costume, and Freya will also be getting a cloak. Weapons and accessories will also be Leviathan Axe (appearance) and Knob (accessory), Blades of Chaos (appearance) and Handles (accessory), Draupnir Spear (appearance) and Hind (accessory). Dark Odyssey will also add a few more shields, all cosmetic only: Guardian Shield, Dauntless Shield, Stonewall Shield, Shatterstart Shield, Onslaught Shield, Spartan Aspis Shield, and the Rond is also part of the package. The appearance of each weapon is designed for a fully upgraded version of each weapon and will only be usable once you have reached that level. There will also be a new feature, Edit Appearance, for these elements of Kratos’ arsenal. You will be able to choose the appearance that matches your look with the functionality you want for your build.
We heard earlier that there will be an art exhibit at the Nucleus Gallery in Los Angeles. There will also be a retrospective book from Dark Horse Books, a print collection from Cook and Becker, a Jormungandr plush from Fangamer, a vinyl collection from Laced Vinyl, and a t-shirt collection from Insert Coins. Additionally, God of War 2018 and God of War: Ragnarok are currently on sale until March 20th.
Maybe fans could have expected more.
