John Wick 5 Surprising News – Despite Keanu Reeves’ Recent Statement

MOVIE NEWS – While Keanu Reeves recently dismissed the idea of returning for a fifth John Wick movie, Lionsgate executives seem to have a very different plan. In a new interview with ComicBook, Jenefer Brown, EVP and Head of Global Products & Experiences at Lionsgate, confirmed that John Wick 5 and multiple other franchise expansions are already in development.

Following the dramatic ending of John Wick: Chapter 4, fans have speculated on how the franchise could continue, especially with its lead character seemingly dead. To keep the series alive, Lionsgate has been focusing on spin-offs, including Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas, which is set to premiere later this year. However, it appears that the main saga isn’t over either, as Brown revealed:

“This world continues to grow and expand in incredible ways. Up next, of course, we have Ballerina, which is our first spin-off movie, and we can’t wait for that to release to the world. Of course, we’ve announced we’re working on a fifth John Wick film. I think there are more spin-offs to come, a TV series, and even a video game.”

When asked for more details, she added: “We’ve shared that we’re developing a fifth John Wick film… [John Wick] may be [dead]. We are all on bated breath waiting to find out.”

Keanu Reeves Says John Wick Is Dead – For Now

Since the release of John Wick: Chapter 4, Keanu Reeves and director Chad Stahelski have frequently addressed the possibility of Wick’s return. Their responses have ranged from openness to a new chapter if the right story emerges to outright denying any continuation. Just two days ago, Reeves firmly shut down the idea:

“You know, the character’s dead. He died in John Wick: Chapter 4. I know, in Hollywood, anything is possible… but right now, there isn’t a plan.”

Despite this, Reeves has previously hinted at a willingness to return—his only concern being his aging knees. So, what’s the truth? Probably both. While Reeves may be stepping back for now, if Lionsgate presents the right script and a lucrative deal, it wouldn’t be surprising to see John Wick rise again. Expect more updates on this in the near future.
