Fans Demand Changes for Assassin’s Creed Shadows: Meditation, Customization, and More

Players of Assassin’s Creed Shadows are asking Ubisoft for key improvements and features. The most requested include time-skipping through meditation and character customization for Naoe and Yasuke.

It may sound surprising, but Assassin’s Creed Shadows is off to a strong start, with Ubisoft’s open world receiving praise from many players. While there’s no official sales figure yet—aside from the UK launch data and confirmation of two million players—Ubisoft has pledged full support. Meanwhile, fans have compiled a long list of features they believe should be added, and some suggestions are compelling enough to warrant serious attention from the developers.

Fans want a meditation feature to control time

One of the most common community requests is the inclusion of a meditation system to skip time and adjust the day-night cycle. This is especially relevant for Naoe, whose stealth mechanics benefit from operating at night. Ubisoft may have omitted the option for balance reasons, but players argue that such functionality is essential in a game that leans heavily on stealth elements.

Past games like Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla all featured time-passing mechanics, and even Mirage—which was billed as a return to classic Assassin’s Creed—allowed players to wait for night using benches. Other major open-world games, such as The Witcher 3, include similar features, making its absence in Shadows a major point of contention.

Customization options for Naoe and Yasuke top the list

Another widely requested feature is the return of the “follow road” function for mounts, a staple of recent AC games. This would allow the horse to follow a path automatically while players enjoy the ride. That said, some fans appreciate its removal, citing the increased presence of random encounters, which make exploration more dynamic.

Additional suggestions include beard and hairstyle customization, fishing (like in Valhalla), quicker options to sell or dismantle gear, the ability to show helmets in cutscenes, removing yellow paint markers, and more photo mode poses. Though these may seem minor, they reflect a player base eager for depth and personalization.

Ubisoft has confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will continue to receive updates over the coming months, though it’s unclear how many of these requests will be implemented. Still, the company remains committed to evolving the game with player feedback, keeping the door open to future additions.
