The First Images of Respawn and Bit Reactor’s Star Wars Strategy Have Neen Leaked!

Star Wars Celebration is coming up, where Lucasfilm will celebrate the franchise, but we’ve already got leaks from there.

The franchise event in April will be the first time we’ll see the new Star Wars turn-based tactical game. The game, first revealed in early 2022, is the result of a collaboration between Respawn Entertainment and Bit Reactor (founded by XCOM veterans). According to the Star Wars website, the game will be unveiled in a one-hour panel at the April 19 event, so it’s only a matter of weeks before we get the first details about the game.

Only now images of the project have leaked, part of a Bit Reactor artist’s portfolio. But they don’t reflect the final version of the game, as the screenshots date back to mid-2023, so they are from an early version. Internally, the game is codenamed Bruno, and the gameplay screenshots show the usual elements of the turn-based strategy genre, such as the isometric view and the team of characters.

Two Mandalorians and a droid are shown taking cover from Stormtroopers during a prisoner rescue mission. The control panel shows the items the player can use (heat detonators, small deployable droids). Other images show UI design concepts, such as a menu and what appears to be a hub area in a place called Kafrene Mining Colony. Hub options include: weapons storage, a holoboard, special operations, and a black market.

The images of the menus show a different aesthetic than the gameplay images, so two stylistic trends can be seen, with one leaning towards a darker, more atmospheric tone and the other opting for a cleaner, more minimalist design. The portfolio doesn’t confirm the target platforms, so we should probably expect the usual trio (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC), but Nintendo Switch 2 could also be a possibility.

The game could be announced at Star Wars Celebration on April 19th. Until then, it’s not official!
