Mafia: The Old Country Release Date Leaks on Spanish Steam, Take-Two Prepares for a Packed Year

The Spanish Steam page for Mafia: The Old Country accidentally revealed the game’s release date, setting the stage for a loaded summer and fall for Take-Two.

For over twenty years, the Mafia franchise has immersed players in tales of crime, betrayal, and power. Each installment brought richly detailed characters and settings to life, and Mafia: The Old Country appears ready to follow suit—this time taking players to early 1900s Sicily, where the roots of the Mafia were planted. Fans are already enthusiastic, even though only a brief reveal trailer has been shown so far.

The leak occurred via the game’s Spanish Steam page, which listed the launch date prematurely: “Mafia: The Old Country will be available on August 8, 2025. Pre-order now for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.”

Interestingly, this came just hours before 2K Games officially announced a developer panel set for May 8 at 8 PM CET during PAX East. The panel will be streamed live on the Mafia YouTube channel and will unveil new information about the game.

According to the announcement, the studio president and game director will host a retrospective covering 23 years of the Mafia series and showcase how Hangar 13 recreated the violent criminal underworld of 1900s Sicily using Unreal Engine 5.

Busy Months Ahead for Take-Two

This reveal comes at a critical time for Take-Two. With Mafia: The Old Country locked in for August 8, the summer release calendar is already heating up. Meanwhile, Borderlands 4 is scheduled for September 23, 2025. The crown jewel remains GTA 6, which is still expected in fall 2025, though no specific date has been given. Based on Rockstar’s track record, an October launch seems likely.
