Helldivers 2 Isn’t Going Anywhere – Arrowhead Commits to Long-Term Support Despite New Game on the Horizon

Even though a new title is already in the works, the creators of Helldivers 2 have made it clear that their current hit is still their top priority. According to Arrowhead’s CEO, the studio’s future is secure, and while a small team will begin a new project, the majority remains fully focused on Helldivers 2.

Helldivers 2 was one of the defining releases of the past year. As a paid live-service title, it won over millions of players with its frantic cooperative combat and satirical fight for democracy. While the game has faced its fair share of ups and downs, it has endured, and the developers remain committed to growing the player base through updates, events, and new content.

In response to fans worried that the studio might shift its focus to a new title, currently codenamed Game 6, Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani reassured players in a Discord post. He explained that the studio’s core development team continues to work on Helldivers 2, while a smaller group will gradually start pre-production on the next project.

“The future of Arrowhead looks bright, and we now have the freedom to explore cool ideas we couldn’t have before,” Jorjani wrote. One concerned fan asked whether the next game would become the studio’s main focus. “Nope. Right now it’s ALL about Helldivers 2. A very, very small team will start something later this year, and they’ll be taking it slow. Helldivers is our main project and will be for a long time,” he added (via IGN).

Sony Won’t Publish Arrowhead’s Next Title

Jorjani also confirmed that Sony will not be publishing the studio’s next title after Helldivers 2. “We’re fully funding the next game ourselves, which means we’ll make all the decisions. We’re approaching this next release a lot smarter,” he stated. Still, the studio isn’t closing the door on PlayStation: “PlayStation is great. There wouldn’t be a Helldivers without them. We’re open to working with them again in the future.”
