Mundfish, the publisher known for Atomic Heart (which is working on a sequel), will release its Team Cloud project on PC and consoles.
Set in a mysterious research facility, Ill is a realistic first-person action/horror game that plunges players into an immersive, atmospheric body horror narrative. Developed by a team with experience working with renowned film directors and designing monsters for horror films, Ill features innovative gameplay mechanics, such as a cutting-edge dismemberment system, binaural audio implementation, and realistic physics. It is both a love letter to and an evolution of the survival horror genre. The title is built on the belief that games can go where films can’t—under the skin. It aims to make players not just witness fear, but experience it. Pain, dread, and disorientation are delivered straight to players with no escape, unlike movies where characters guide viewers through terror. Something sinister has awakened within a vast research fort. This mysterious source of evil and the horrific aberrations it spawned stand in the way of the protagonist saving what matters most to him. Unleash your survival instincts as you experience every second of the struggle for survival in Ill.
Ill is the first title to be released by Mundfish Powerhouse, the new business label from the developers of the 2023 smash hit, Atomic Heart. With the singular goal of helping ambitious developers bring their creative visions to life, Mundfish Powerhouse is more than just a publishing imprint. It’s a multifunctional creative label that lends consultancy, financial aid, and other resources to those who have yet to establish themselves in the industry. The game plunges you into a grim world with an eerie, atmospheric narrative that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Ill challenges even the most seasoned fans of the genre with its disturbingly realistic horrors. It pushes the boundaries of the genre with its gory realism. Grotesque monsters can be mutilated and torn apart mercilessly. Ripped flesh, exposed bone, and disemboweled bodies will make an unprecedented impression and shock you to the core. The binaural audio system amplifies the emotional impact, allowing you to feel the agony in every scream.
The enemies are unpredictable, and the game’s realistic physics bring the environment to life. It becomes an active part of the gameplay, including during puzzle-solving. Your actions can affect the behavior of monsters, causing unexpected reactions, from impulsive interaction with the surroundings to disturbingly human-like reflexes. Feel the weight of your weapon with elaborate animations that reflect its unique physical properties. Precision is important, as is maintaining a diverse arsenal. This includes checking for malfunctions, installing modifications, and upgrading. Strategic inventory management is critical to survival—the ability to craft an item could mean the difference between life and death. The Ill developers are seasoned horror experts whose work has been featured in acclaimed films and series such as V/H/S/Beyond, Longlegs, IT: Welcome to Derry, Azrael, and various Sony Pictures horror projects. In Ill, they apply their film industry experience to create an immersive survival horror game with a cinematic edge.
