Nintendo Switch 2: Does It Natively Support Mouse and Keyboard? [VIDEO]

It appears that the Japanese company’s new console, released this week, enables you to use the input devices you’re accustomed to on PCs with minimal additional effort.

The Nintendo Switch supported keyboard and mouse control, but it wasn’t plug-and-play. This meant that you couldn’t simply connect the devices to the console and start using them right away. Additionally, only a few games explicitly supported this control mode. However, the Nintendo Switch 2 natively supports keyboard and mouse control. For most games, all you need is a mouse and keyboard to connect to the next-gen hardware.

Blunty, a YouTuber, noticed that while playing Cyberpunk 2077 on the Nintendo Switch 2, the console responded to a wireless mouse connected to the dock, even when mouse control was turned off in the game’s settings. He then took the next obvious step and connected a keyboard. Of course, this worked without a hitch.

In addition to Cyberpunk 2077, we know that Nobunaga’s Ambition: Awakening: Complete Edition from Koei Tecmo for the Nintendo Switch 2 supports mouse control, as the developers demonstrated during a livestream last month. However, this was just one game, and it wasn’t clear whether Koei Tecmo had to add this functionality or if mouse support was native to the Switch 2. But seeing how Cyberpunk 2077 worked seamlessly by simply plugging in a mouse and keyboard USB dongle, it seems you can connect a mouse and keyboard for almost any game, and it will work smoothly.

We’ll find out more over time, but so far, it appears Nintendo’s efforts to make the new Joy-Cons function as mice come with the added benefit of being able to plug in a USB keyboard and mouse for just about anything, and it should work without issue.
