Wreckreation: After Three Years, Three Fields’ Game Is Still in the Works [VIDEO]

Three Fields Entertainment and THQ Nordic’s open-world arcade racer has been in development for years, but the finish line still seems far off. Wreckreation offers a 400-square-kilometer MixWorld, a massive track you can build, reshape, and even destroy however you want. Created by the team behind Burnout and Need for Speed, Three Fields aims to give racing fans the most open-ended sandbox driving experience. It’s a fully open world you can design alone or with friends, online.

In Wreckreation, you’ll constantly compete—against yourself, others, or the rest of the world—across racing, stunts, or even spectacular crashes, all on tracks you and your friends have designed. There are seven different record types for every road: drift, jump, near-miss, stunt, crash, and standard time trials. Empty plots are special places in your kingdom where you can construct new creations, expanding the game beyond just its roads.

The MixWorld is a gigantic, fully customizable map. Place ramps, loops, obstacles, and build both road and off-road tracks—nearly anything you can imagine. Personalization options are vast from the start: paints, surfaces, wheels, flames, engine sounds, glass tints, and more. The game even has its own retro FM radio with 16 channels, plus the ability to stream your favorite tracks via a premium Spotify playlist. You’re in charge of the gameplay—create events, set the rules, and shape the world as you see fit.

Wreckreation was first announced in August 2022, then reappeared at the 2023 THQ Nordic Digital Showcase. It was absent last year, and now it’s resurfaced again—just another example of how the publisher’s games tend to reappear once a year. There’s still no release date, but it’s coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
