Capcom Finally Responds to Dino Crisis Fans—But the Announcement Leaves Many Disappointed

Thousands of Dino Crisis fans have been asking Capcom to revive the series for years. The company has finally reacted, but its move left many players disappointed: it announced new merchandise, not a game.

Fans of Dino Crisis have long dreamed of seeing the legendary survival-horror series return. From unofficial remakes to online polls, players have used every means possible to voice their wish to revisit Capcom’s dinosaur-filled world. The Japanese publisher is well aware of these demands, but its latest dinosaur-related announcement has left many underwhelmed: it’s nothing more than a line of new merchandise.

As Shinobi602 pointed out on X, Capcom has revealed an entire range of products based on Dino Crisis. The collection includes jerseys with the saga’s logo, figurines, pins, and even mouse pads, but fans were less than thrilled—especially since this is the first official mention of the series in months, and it has nothing to do with a remake or a new installment.

Fan Reactions: Disappointment Mixed with Hope

The community was quick to express its disappointment on X. “They wouldn’t make new merchandise without a new game, or at least a remake, right?” wrote GTAman51 sarcastically. “It’s funny that a video game company plays with us like this.” added quottonete. Others remain hopeful, seeing Capcom’s move as a possible sign that something is brewing. “Damn. What a provocation. They’ll make a [game] sooner or later, they have to.” noted FadyK85.

Capcom’s Plans for Dormant IPs

While there’s no news of remakes or sequels, the Dino Crisis license hasn’t been completely inactive. In early 2025, PC players were able to enjoy the first two games again thanks to GOG making them compatible with modern systems. Although this wasn’t a move by Capcom itself, fans still welcomed it as a small step forward for the franchise.

The creators of Resident Evil have also been vocal about their interest in reviving dormant IPs. At the end of 2024, the Japanese company announced its commitment to bring back several older series—something we’ve already seen with the return of Onimusha and Okami. Many players believe this is a golden opportunity for Capcom to listen to its fans and finally deliver a new Dino Crisis project.
