Twisted Pixel and Oculus Studios are bringing Deadpool to virtual reality, and the release date isn’t far away.
Deadpool in VR? Absolutely. After stumbling through a portal into Mojoworld, the merc with a mouth sees an opportunity to strike it rich—very rich. He signs a shady contract without bothering to read the fine print and sets off to explore multiple Marvel Universe locations, where he’ll face both iconic and obscure villains.
Marvel’s Deadpool VR combines fast-paced parkour with outrageous combat, letting players do practically anything they can imagine. Stabbing and shooting enemies is just the start. Punching someone while holding a live grenade? Check. Picking up your freshly blown-off arm and smacking an enemy with it? Disgusting, but entirely possible. With Neil Patrick Harris voicing Deadpool, players can expect plenty of over-the-top, chaotic moments that only this wisecracking antihero could deliver.
Twisted Pixel is best known for its quirky indie titles: The Maw (2009), ’Splosion Man (2009), Comic Jumper (2010), Ms. Splosion Man (2011/2018), The Gunstringer (2011), The Wavy Tube Man Chronicles (2011), LocoCycle (2013), Wilson’s Heart (2017), B-Team (2018), Defector (2019), and Path of the Warrior (2019). Founded in 2006, the studio operated under Microsoft Studios between 2011 and 2015, before joining Oculus Studios in 2021, making it part of Meta today.
Marvel’s Deadpool VR launches on November 18 for Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S. The big question is how far this exclusivity will limit its audience.
