UltiZero Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment finally shipped the long-in-development title (with a demo), but technically it’s far from impressive.
Lost Soul Aside isn’t a visual showpiece for the current console generation, yet it still drops to a very low resolution to maintain 60 FPS on a standard PS5. That’s the takeaway from the comparison video below by ElAnalistaDeBits, which also outlines resolution and frame-rate targets across PS5 Pro and PC.
While visual differences between PS5 and PS5 Pro are minimal, the Performance mode resolution ranges are striking: ~1398p–1080p on PS5 Pro versus ~1189p–635p on base PS5. ~635p is extremely low—even for a game with relatively dated graphics—and below 720p HD. On the plus side, performance appears mostly stable on consoles, without the stuttering issues reported on PC.
After years of development, the project grew from a solo effort to a full-scale release, but many players feel the graphics and story fell short. That’s a shame, because beneath evident technical problems (including erratic audio mixing) and a price that feels steep for the content, there’s a solid character action game with a flexible combat system that rewards expression.
Lost Soul Aside is available now on PlayStation 5 and PC. An Xbox Series port remains an open question (and a Switch 2 version seems unlikely), though it would fit a true multiplatform strategy.
