Naoki Hamaguchi is quite confident about the game he is working on, so perhaps Square Enix is preparing something extraordinary.
We have come a long way over the past decade. By the time the game is finished, more than a decade will have passed. However, the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy is slowly coming to an end. The third game is currently in development. In an interview with VGC, director Hamaguchi revealed more details about the game’s development. Hamaguchi talked about offering players a new gaming experience with the third game, which will focus on different elements than its predecessors.
Hamaguchi believes the conclusion of the decade-long trilogy will satisfy old and new fans alike. As for the game’s release, Tetsuya Nomura, who also works on Kingdom Hearts IV, recently said the game is progressing according to plan. In the VGC interview, Hamaguchi emphasized again that development is going well.
“We’re working really hard on the third game in the Remake series at the moment. It’s coming along really well. I have the vision for the gameplay structure and experience in my head now, and it’s looking really good. It’s something really satisfying that gamers can sink their teeth into. It’ll be a brilliant experience, as it should be. We’re going to refine it further and deliver it in the not-too-distant future. You can really look forward to the climax of the series; it’ll be exactly what you want. Don’t worry about that. It’s coming, and it’s just as good as you think. I’m very confident in the game I’m making,” Hamaguchi said.
Hamaguchi also discussed the Nintendo Switch 2 because the trilogy will be available on that platform as well. He reassured players that the games will run well on the Switch 2 by saying that they have made optimizations and refinements for the platform.
Overall, it’s encouraging to hear Hamaguchi’s confidence in the third installment and to know that we’ll see more of it soon. Perhaps at The Game Awards…?
