Chris Stockman was offered an opportunity that would have been foolish to turn down. However, that doesn’t automatically mean a new game is in the works.
In a post on the Saints Row subreddit, Chris Stockman, the head of the franchise’s first installment, announced that someone, somewhere, might be interested in reviving Volition’s open-world crime games. Stockman, the design director of the original Saints Row before leaving Volition, told the community he has hopeful news for the future: he’s been asked to create a pitch for a Saints Row prequel. He can’t reveal any more than that, but he is turning his dreams for this game into reality.
Stockman revealed that he is not creating a VR game and is actually returning to his roots. His basic idea is to revisit what made the original Saints Row entertaining. The game was somewhat based on reality but also a bit crazy. It had more satirical elements than later installments. He calls his project Saints Row ’77. There won’t be giant dildos as weapons; he would never include such gross weapons in the series. Stockman’s vision seems to focus more on the first two games than the last two.

He hasn’t been involved with Volition and Saints Row long enough to know what’s going on there. He had nothing to do with the Saints Row 2 PC patch. He didn’t write it and doesn’t know what’s in it. He’s sad that the original developer passed away, which is probably why the patch never came out. So, what is this patch?
A famous Saints Row 2 modder named IdolNinja got a job at Volition and was eventually given the green light to start a secret project aimed at improving the game’s unfortunate PC version. However, IdolNinja died before completing the project, and although Volition promised to finish it in his memory, the project was likely abandoned when Embracer closed the studio.
