It is not every day you see an action game that blends Arthurian myth, a devastated post-apocalyptic London, and an actress fresh from Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 – but that is exactly what Tides of Annihilation is doing. Its latest trailer makes a strong case that this Chinese-made hack-and-slash is on track to become one of the most powerful action releases of 2026.
There is a reason Tides of Annihilation is being talked about as one of the most exciting action games to come out of China in recent years. During the latest Xbox showcase it stood out as one of the clear highlights, thanks to a four-minute trailer that stitched together cinematic story beats with raw gameplay sequences to give a solid taste of what this hack-and-slash has in store. The game is slated to arrive in 2026 on PC, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5, and it was easily one of the most exhilarating showings of the entire event.
Arthurian Myths, Post Apocalyptic London And A Familiar Voice
The developers describe their setting as a world that reimagines Arthurian legend, a place where ideas like courage, loyalty, and heroism are woven into an epic narrative set in an environment that feels both strange and oddly familiar. That environment is a twisted, post-apocalyptic version of London, where shattered skyscrapers and collapsing bridges become the stage for knightly battles and the end of the world prophecy. The new trailer, unveiled during the Xbox Partner Preview, dives deeper into the “monumental scale” of this world while also putting plenty of emphasis on the game’s fast-paced action.
The lead character is voiced by Jennifer English, an actress who has become a regular presence in major releases, with credits in Elden Ring, Baldur’s Gate 3, and, most recently, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. In Tides of Annihilation, she brings Gwendolyn to life, a knight whose personal journey is bound up with the fate of a world sliding into ruin.
Dual Frontline Combat And A Shattered Mirror Dimension
Visually, the game’s trailer borrows some of the dreamlike, reality-bending energy of Christopher Nolan’s Inception. It also gives us a first look at the Dual Frontline combat system, which allows for up to three playable Knights, each with their own move set and abilities. Layered on top of that is the Mirror Dimension, a fractured plane that reflects countless parallel realities, twisting and folding the battlefield around the player.
Throughout the trailer, we see Gwendolyn and Lamorak slipping in and out of this mirror world during a climactic boss fight, making it clear that you will sometimes be managing two characters at once. It is a smart way of showing that the Dual Frontline system is more than a visual gimmick; it is a mechanic that demands constant repositioning, tactical thinking, and clever use of synergies between your Knights as the arena itself breaks apart.
“We are excited to share the next chapter in Gwendolyn’s journey, and this is just the beginning,” explains Kun Fu, one of the leading figures at Eclipse Glow Games. As part of the presentation, the Chinese studio also confirmed plans to support Xbox Play Anywhere in the future, so players will be able to enjoy Tides of Annihilation on PC or Xbox regardless of where they purchase the game.
More Highlights From The Xbox Partner Preview
The Xbox Partner Preview had plenty of other talking points as well. The event featured the spectacular Zoopunk, a sequel to the intriguing F.I.S.T.: Forged In Shadow Torch. In keeping with what has almost become tradition at these showcases, there was also a shadow drop, with the announcement and immediate release of the horror game Total Chaos. On top of that, the creator of Vampire Survivors joined the party to reveal his new project, which, as you might expect, follows in the footsteps of his runaway hit in some very familiar ways.
