MOVIE NEWS – The first professional reactions to Christopher Nolan’s latest blockbuster, The Odyssey, have arrived. After the Oscar triumph of Oppenheimer, the British director turned to Homer’s classical epic, once again with a sure hand, according to the initial response. Critics are calling the $250 million production, shot with IMAX cameras, an unparalleled filmmaking achievement.
“The Odyssey is a monumental cinematic feast,” enthused Collider editor-in-chief Perri Nemiroff. “We get a grand and gripping adaptation of Homer’s epic that bears Christopher Nolan’s unmistakable signature in every respect. It is difficult to imagine any other director capable of bringing this material to the screen with such monumental scale, overwhelming spectacle, and heart.”
Critics have also unanimously praised the outstanding cast, highlighting that the actors are delivering the best performances of their careers. Matt Damon as Odysseus, Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Tom Holland as Telemachus, and Robert Pattinson as the ruthless seducer Antinous have all impressed the industry.
“Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is a flawless film, a classic epic brought to the screen exactly as we hoped it would be in every possible way!”, wrote Gold Derby critic Simon Thompson.
