Activision has taken Call of Duty’s anti-cheat campaign beyond the servers, sending a company lawyer to personally deliver a cease-and-desist order at a well-known cheat seller’s home. The RICOCHET team says it has disrupted hundreds of reseller operations and promises further legal and technical action before Modern Warfare 4 launches in October.

Activision has traditionally fought Call of Duty cheaters with automated detection, account bans, hardware blocks and server-side protection. Its latest move sends a much more visible message: RICOCHET Anti-Cheat does not stop working when a match ends, and the publisher is willing to pursue the people who build and sell cheats in the real world.

The company released a genuine 63-second video showing an Activision lawyer visiting the Ohio home of a prominent cheat seller known as Elocarry. The attorney personally delivered a cease-and-desist notice demanding an immediate halt to the sale of hacks for Call of Duty.

“Create cheats. Sell cheats. We will find you.”

Activision says it has disrupted more than 375 cheat-reselling operations, delivered at least 80 cease-and-desist notices and shut down over 30 providers. Elocarry subsequently paused its Call of Duty products on Discord, although a separate investigation found that aimbots and ESP tools for other games were still being sold.

The timing matters with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 approaching. TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are mandatory for the PC beta, and we previously detailed Modern Warfare 4’s beta and technical changes. Activision says further RICOCHET security updates will arrive before release.

Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, with campaign early access beginning on October 16 for pre-orders. By combining technical defenses with direct legal pressure, Activision is making clear that it intends to protect the new game on every front.
